Well, it's been a while since I've updated. Been busy with a job change and the holidays and all. Got all kinds of art/animation goodies (software, pegbars, etc.)for Christmas or Festivus or HannuKwanzamas....!
Will be using these to finish putting together my 'pitch'.
Attempted to attend first Mardi Gras parade of the season down on Dauphin Island yesterday. Their floats are a bit primitive, traffic was poorly managed, and we actually missed the parade and sat stranded for over an hour after a 'senior citizen' driving a looooooonnnnnng luxurious motorhome (with s.u.v. in tow) pulled too far into an impassible 't' intersection. He blocked traffic 3-ways and pissed off a LOT of locals and me...! When we finally convinced him to disconnect the vehicle-in-tow, we were able to make our escape to a local watering hole to wait for the traffic to clear.
Saw a lot of mulletts. The 'do', not the fish. And they were 'proud' mulletts, some over 2-feet long...! (Not like the old 'semi-mulletts everyone had at some point in the 80's/early 90's).
And Bikers.

Not For Long..... Another Retail Story
Well, this job keeps getting better and better. Retail literally sucks. People of all walks of life from Grand Bay are idiots. Spell it with me: "I-D-I-O-T-S"!
And bastards.
For instance, a young democrat comes in with a pygmy on her hip, asking about a battery. After some qualifying questions, I provide her with all of the information about her needs. She just wants a cheap battery that will fit. I go out & look at her battery dimensions and offer her an inexpensive battery.
She asks if I can install it for her. I smile and reluctantly answer "yes". (In reality, I hate this aspect of the job not only for the sheer dislike of getting greasy, but also for liability issues causing me to question the store's reasoning in continuing this practice) After removing the old and installing the new batteries at the expense of other waiting customers at the counter, the door of the Ford Explorer parked in the next space opens, and the 'baby daddy'(who had been watching the entire time) gets out and proceeds to 'supervise' and verify that this was the cheapest battery, if I knew what I was doing, etc.
I don't actually know if my face was as red or if my anger and disgust showed. I don't know how much longer this will last.

Good Local High School Football on ESPN2 (And LOU..!)
Wow! Two local (well, regional, since they're in Baldwin County) teams squared off with a national ESPN2 audience last night. I watched most of it, and at first I thought it was going to be 'The JULIO JONES Show'. Which would have been fine with me. This kid makes it look easy. And he played both ways! I sure hope he comes to THE University of ALABAMA.
And we got to see and hear Kenny 'Snake' Stabler at the game. But the announcers talked more about Mobile than either Foley OR Daphne. Weird.
Now, usually, I hate to watch Lou Holtz's halftime rants. This washed-up 'Granny Clampett' look-a-like who sounds like Sylvester (excuse me-- 'thoundth like Thylvethter) is such a homer and Notre Dame apologist that I just can't sit through his insane 'pep talks'. I mean, he literally rambles incoherently and makes such vague references that even I sometimes can't make them remotely relevant.
Last night, however, during the South Carolina-Kentucky game, he did this:
I LOVE the old 'tearing paper' trick.
ANYhow, The Tide should take care of the Houston Cougars handily. It's Homecoming, so maybe they can put on a show for everyone. And win big. Hopefully, the mistakes can be corrected. If so, this game should be just what Bama needs.
PREDICTION: ALABAMA 38, Houston 14
Florida visits LSU in a good night-game matchup that could get ugly if the Gators play like they did against auburn. LSU has typically started their games slowly, but I think they'll come out clawing Saturday night. And what's with Les Miles and that 'trucker hat'...? That thing sits a mile on top of his head! The Bayou Bengals fans will have been drinking all day, so look for some ugly behavior if Florida comes out on top. It'll be a close one.
PREDICTION: LSU 38, Florida 28
Okay, honestly, I don't care about any of the other games, and as evidenced by last week's picks I obviously don't know much about college football, either. ROLL TIDE.
