More Info
Join the creator of Disney Channel's "Phineas and Ferb" at a special benefit on Saturday, July 16, for Cheryl Washington Brantley's upcoming kidney transplant.

To donate online, go to:
http://www.giveforward.com/cherylskidneyfund

The event, which takes place at 9 a.m. at E.R. Dickson Elementary, will raise money to help Cheryl and her family with expenses related to her kidney transplant.

Dan Povenmire, who created the popular show "Phineas and Ferb," and Cheryl were classmates at John S. Shaw High School. Cheryl, who has lupus, has been in kidney failure for four years. Dan's sister Linda just found out she is a match and will be donating a kidney to her friend Cheryl within the next few weeks.

Cheryl, a former newspaper journalist who retired last year because of her illness, is married to Mike Brantley, assistant online editor at the Press-Register in Mobile. They are the parents of an 8-year-old daughter.

Without a transplant, Cheryl will die.

In addition to a presentation from Dan, who voices the character Dr. Doofensmirtz, the event will also include a live auction of merchandise and posters from "Phineas and Ferb" and other Disney TV shows.

There will also be drawings for prizes. Stay tuned for details about how you and your family can win a trip to the Disney Studios in Hollywood for a behind-the-scenes look at how the show is made. This prize will include airfare, hotel accommodations and tickets to Disneyland.

WPMI-TV’s Darwin Singleton will serve as host. And Press-Register Cartoonist J.D. Crowe will be the auctioneer.

Admission is a donation of $10 (cash only).

Additional donations can also be made for:

* A signed poster from Dan Povenmire
* Caricatures of you and your family by local artist Brent Amacker
* A keepsake photograph of you and your family

Donuts, coffee and juice will be served.

PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY!!! Once we are full, no one else will be admitted, but we will continue to take donations and enter people into the drawing at a table set up at the entrance for any who arrive after we reach our maximum capacity.

So Busy.... No Time To Post Picks!

Wow! Drew caricatures at The Wharf in Orange Beach last night. I was so busy getting prepped and peeling wallpaper border that I neglected to post my weekly college football picks!
More on the drawing gig later!
Since many games are already underway, I'll stick to the later ones:

Recovery & Miscellaneous Ramblings

Alright, I am growing weary of lying down or sitting still and rehabilitating my injured back. (Note to self: Don't over-do it!) After a month of this sedentary lifestyle, I am anxious to get moving. Not too much, since I am still very sore and now also weak from inactivity.

BAMA TWINS Update
Cole and Wade Ellis have been doing their thing, crawling and now toddling as they prepare for the upcoming University of Alabama Crimson Tide football season. Colton, shown below with dad Wendell last month, is sporting a mohawk and practicing his game face.
Wade, shown below with Uncle Brent, is working on his repertoire of faces and funny noises as he perfects 'The Pig Show', his on-going comedy routine.

That reminds me: Only 74 Days 'Til Kickoff...!

Meanwhile.......Click on the pic to see a neat dramatization!

Peace. Aloha.
